Strategic Communications

Behind every successful media hit or executive interview is a foundation of strategic planning. The coverage below is the result of leading collaborative brainstorms with executive leadership, crafting data-driven research reports, and navigating complex cross-functional conversations to uncover insights and stories that resonate with journalists.

Behind each of these headlines is a set of guiding principles that shape my approach to media coverage:

  1. Great Stories > Great Connections: No amount of networking can force a boring story into a top-tier outlet. Strong storytelling and creativity always win. For example, when I entered the tech/VC media landscape, I had no established media relationships. Instead, I focused on understanding reporters’ areas of interest, crafting compelling narratives, and proactively pitching ideas that resonated.

  2. Focus on Journalists’ Needs: Understanding what journalists want is the most critical step in earning their trust. At Crunchbase, I created a research function informed by real conversations with reporters. By providing the data they needed, I landed a long list of top-tier media hits and regularly had media coming to me to gather Crunchbase data for their stories.

  3. Top-Tier Materials Land Top-Tier Coverage: A strong pitch is only as good as the resources behind it. Securing high-impact articles means offering qualified spokespeople, compelling data, authentic customer stories, and bold opinions.

  4.  Modern Media Training: I prepare executives to excel in long-form conversations—focusing on authentic storytelling, conversational stamina, and concrete examples that align with the brand’s larger narrative and paint a vision of the future.
